Imperial County Sheriff's Office
OUr history
“In 2004 thru early 2005, The Imperial County Sheriff’s Office experienced a series of serious, critical incidents and events involving our personnel. In the following years we learned that these incidents had noticeable, long lasting, negative effects on the well-being of Sheriff’s Office personnel, both professionally and personally. At the time of these incidents, the only resources available for those in need were through the County Employee Assistance Program (EAP). It was identified that there was a need for services and resources above what was offered on a County level, that specifically dealt with the traumas and issues we encounter on a regular basis during our careers in Law Enforcement.
In order to ensure that members of the Sheriff’s Office were better taken care of, Sheriff Loera authorized and funded the development and formation of the Imperial County Sheriff’s Office Peer Support Program - Line of Duty Death and Critical Incident Response Team. This program was developed and implemented specifically to assist members of the Imperial County Sheriff’s Office in dealing with problems and issues that often arise from being exposed to the traumatic situations we are routinely tasked with handling. Sheriff Loera recognized that while dealing with these traumas are part of our duties, they are “Not Normal”, and the importance of having the proper resources available to assist members of the Sheriff’s Office better deal with the negative side affects of our profession when needed.
In early 2007, the Sheriff’s Office Peer Support Program was officially implemented and offered to the entire department. This team is a mixture of personnel from all Divisions of the Sheriff’s Office in order to ensure all members are represented and served. The Peer Support Program over the past 13 years has continually grown and adjusted to meet the needs of the Sheriff’s Office and it’s personnel. This website has been developed to provide important information and resources in a more accessible platform. You will find a complete list of active Peer Support members, along with their contact information. Also included are resources, links and reading material that may be of assistance.”
